Ada Lee Dixon (1927-2022), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, died peacefully on the morning of Saturday, October 1, 2022.
Ada enjoyed spending time with her children, Rick Dixon, Joseph Dixon, Philip Dixon (Cindy), and Greg Dixon (Sandye); her many grandchildren, Jimmy Dixon, Stephen Dixon, Elizabeth Dixon (Doug), Paul Dixon, Emily Dixon, Jed Dixon (Sarah), Jessica Montoya (Carlos), Maggie Dixon, Audra Coil (Chris), Josh Dixon (Robynn), Jake Dixon (Liz), Rachel Michel (Justin), and Joey Dixon; great-grandchildren; and her two great-great grandchildren. Ada lived a long life and passed at the age of 95, she was preceded in death by her Father, Charlie Hollin; Mother, Annie Hollin; siblings, Annie, Fannie, Doshia, Beulah, Grace, Mable, Felix, Jack; her beloved husband, Charles E. Dixon; daughter-in-law, Linda Dixon; and grandson, Joey Dixon.
Ada was born and raised in Kentucky, and then made her way with her family to Albuquerque in the mid 60’s. Ada had a busy life raising four boys and working as an LPN at Presbyterian Hospital. After retiring, she filled her time with her grandchildren and spent time at the Palo Duro Senior Center. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and spent time quilting and participating in outings with her friends. She made many hats and scarves for the local needy and would often feed those less fortunate. She loved to bake and always had homemade cookies and banana bread on hand for people that would drop in. Her grandchildren spent quality time cooking and baking with her through the years.
Ada traveled all over the world and enjoyed visiting family members around the states. She was often hard to get ahold of because she was very independent and was out and about. Ada was often out with friends and visiting others in assisted living and nursing homes as her friends started to age.
If you knew Ada, you knew her life was filled with service. She served so many people in her family and community. She will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We will always carry Ada’s memory in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in her name.
