He is survived by his parents, John and Lucille; brothers, Nicholas Gentry of Albuquerque and Benjamin Cordova of Denver and sister Paige Gentry of Philadelphia and nephew Elijah Cordova of Denver. He also had many, many friends that loved him like a brother. He also leaves his cherished three aunts, Alice Albert and her husband Dennis; Yvette Lucero and husband Michael; and JoAnn Briner and husband Bill; and one uncle Tommy Gentry and his wife Marsha. He was preceded in death by his Aunt Barbara Keller and her husband Don; and his uncle Amos Montoya (kindred spirit) and his both living wife Karen and ex-wife Lee Ann. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents Aaron and Lillian Gentry of Linton, IN, and Amos and Irma Montoya of Alamosa, CO. He also leaves 19 cousins and was preceded in death by 2 cousins. He cherished all his family so much and talked about them everyday.
Aaron was known as "Gentry" a gifted musician, song-writer, singer and music promoter. He played many instruments--piano, organ, electric and acoustic guitars, banjo, saxophone, harmonica, drums, etc. He produced his first CD at age 18 and another a year later. He wrote all the songs on these CDs, played multiple instruments, and performed all vocals. Mountain Road Recording Studios, ABQ, NM layered the music as one piece for each song. He wrote hundreds of songs and poems (even one in Spanish), created music/melodies, and had a beautiful distinct voice. He was a music genius. He was never so happy as when he was playing music and singing. Aaron was a born leader, had several bands, and promoted other groups coming to Burque from all over the world. Most of all he loved people unconditionally with no judgments, and was the nicest, most lovable person and friend to everyone he met and they all called him bro. His heart went out to homeless and the down and out. He held charity concerts for them and collected food for Road Runner Food Bank. He was an excellent chef so he cooked green chile and beans for the visiting band members and provided lodging. He would give you the shirt off his back.
Aaron was also an artist that drew and painted in various mediums. We hung his paintings all over the house. He was very intelligent and passed the GED at 16 with one of the highest grades ever seen. He had read hundreds of books and loved American and World History most of all. He could recite all the US Presidents and Vice Presidents by the second grade and Mrs. Johnson, his teacher, encouraged all the class to do the same and many did. As a youngster he played Little League Baseball and Club Team Sun Devils; he was an excellent catcher. Los Angeles Dodgers was his favorite team and last year won the World's Series; made him so happy. He loved all animals especially dogs. He brought an abandoned dog named Polly one night; she was pregnant and had 11 puppies that brought our family so much love and joy. He found great homes for 6 pups and we kept 5 and Polly. Born on Mother's Day 2008, our dogs have all died except Raider, black/white/gray colors with black spot over left eye like Oakland Raiders mascot, Aaron's favorite football team and he looked forward to seeing them play in-person as the Las Vegas Raiders.
Also touching his life were several Christian pastors, baseball coaches, and music teachers for piano (at age 5) and guitar (at age 12) and saxophone (at age 13). He also loved to teach others the basics of guitar. We will think of him everyday and remember his kind heart, beautiful smile and talents. May Jesus bless you all as you mourn for Aaron.
