Wilfred Joseph Blanchard

Wilfred “Bill” J. Blanchard, age 88, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2018 at his home in Albuquerque, NM with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 1, 1930 in Lincoln, NH and was the son of Omer and Alphonsine (Duguay) Blanchard. He grew up in Brunswick, ME where he attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated in 1949 from Brunswick High School. He enlisted in The United States Navy and honorably served during the Korean Conflict. Wilfred leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Connie; daughter, Katherine A. Blanchard; daughter, Sharon (Blanchard) Hawk (William); son, David H. Blanchard (Katherine); grandsons, Seth Bromberg (Lauryn), Shane Blanchard and Cameron Blanchard; great-grandsons, Oliver Albert Bromberg and Wilfred Theodore Bromberg. Wilfred is also survived by his dearest friends, Danny and Debbie Sanchez, whom he held close to his heart like family. The Blanchard family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the VA Medical Center Home Based Primary Care team and to the Hospice Compassus team. A Rosary will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:15 p.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW Albuquerque, NM. After Mass there will be a Celebration of Life at the Church Hall. Interment will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:15 p.m. with military honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
