Wayne Spence

September 19, 1941 — September 11, 2022

Wayne Spence, Lawrenceville, VA native and longtime Albuquerque resident, passed on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Wayne was the ninth of ten children born to John Thomas Spence and Irene Baird Spence, both of Brunswick County.

Wayne grew up in Lawrenceville where he remained until joining the Army. While on leave he visited his friend's hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. After serving his country, he returned to Albuquerque where he settled, marrying and having two daughters.

Wayne spent many years with General Electric, then with the State of NM before retiring. He spent his retirement years traveling, dancing, spoiling his dog, and spending time with family.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings; and his beloved Blue Heeler, Pudgie. He is survived by his daughters, Angelina Spence and Paige Spence and fiancé, Brett Bedillion; two grandchildren, Joshua Peterson and his wife, Kaytlyn Bashon and Sarah Peterson Latham; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Latham, Tristen Peterson, and Emma Peterson; former wife, Rosemarie Spence; as well as numerous family members in Virginia and surrounding area. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all.

Services will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. Wayne will be laid to rest along with his best friend, Pudgie at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
