Thomas Lee Garrett entered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his home. Thomas is survived by his grandfather, Perry L. and step-grandmother, Carolyn Randall of Belen; parents, Grayson W. and Carol E. Garrett of Albuquerque; two brothers, Michael P. and Jesse S. of Albuquerque; and sister, Sarah L. and her husband, CWO5 Jeffrey A. French-Lujan and their children, Emily, James, Joseph, Jesse, and Jackson of Camp Pendleton, CA.
Born Monday, August 13, 1973, at St. Joseph Hospital in Albuquerque, NM, Thomas graduated from Highland High School in 1991. He attended the University of New Mexico from 1991 to 1992, and graduated from the Metropolitan College of Court Reporting, Albuquerque, in 1994. He served as court reporter for District Court in Roswell from 1994 to 2003 under the Hon. Judges Schneider and Lynch, after which he moved to Federal Court in Albuquerque, under the Hon. Judge Johnson, where he worked until 2014. Thomas was then employed by Bean & Associates, Inc. and Paul Baca Professional Court Reporting, Inc. of Albuquerque. He was a Certified Court Monitor, Court Reporter and Federal Certified Realtime Reporter. Affiliations include the United States Court Reporters Assoc., National Court Reporters Assoc., and New Mexico Court Reporters Assoc.
Thomas was well-respected by his peers for his court reporting acuity, professionalism and dedication to his life's work. Thomas was a fashion aficionado with an exceptional eye for color and design, always drawn to the finer things in life. He liked gardening, the outdoors, loved music, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his conure parrots, Duckie and Sunny, whom he took on many adventures. Thomas worshiped at Adat Yeshua in Albuquerque for several years, occasionally visiting Eastern Hills Baptist Church. He appeared in the TV series "Better Call Saul" Season 2, Episode 6 as a court reporter extra. Profoundly loved, he will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Funeral Service will be Monday, June 13, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100
