Ronnie Martinez, 56, beloved son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend was called to his Eternal resting place on Thursday, June 23, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He entered this world on Monday, March 14, 1966, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, born to Adrian Martinez and Sylvia Garbagni. After graduating Rio Grande High School, Ronnie worked different jobs until he returned to his passion for firefighting. Ronnie started volunteering as a firefighter while attending high school. He later turned his 10 years of volunteer work into a career with Bernalillo County Fire Department where he worked for another twenty years until his retirement as a Lieutenant in September 2011. Ronnie married his love in 2006 and they had a beautiful daughter together. Ronnie was passionate about serving his Lord Jesus, his family, friends, and his community. Ronnie was funny, kind, genuine, generous, vivacious, adventurous, and full of love and joy. He will be tremendously missed by the many lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Martinez; son, Jonathan Martinez; daughter, Amber Martinez; sister, Annabelle Leyba; sister, Judy Perez and her husband, Al Perez; brother, Joe Dominguez and his wife, Ramona Dominguez; brother and lifelong friend, Richard Garcia; grandson, Jonathan Martinez Jr.; grandson, Jordan Martinez; granddaughter, Janae Martinez; daughter-in-law, Monique Cavalier; nephew, Desi Ramirez; niece, Charmaine Garbagni; niece, Venessa Ramirez; nephew, Aaron Ramirez; nephew, Johnny Ramirez; niece, Anna Ramirez; nephew, Josh Ramirez; nephew, Emilio Espinoza; nephew, Daniel Dominguez; niece, Maria Sanchez; niece, Monica Sanchez: niece, Melissa Mathias; and nephew, Michael Flores. He was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Martinez; mother, Sylvia Garbagni; sister, Veronica Ramirez; and brother-in-law, Desiderio Ramirez.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a Memorial Service to follow, at FRENCH-Lomas. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, at 2:30 p.m.
