Peggy Hight Robb

September 14, 1924 — May 8, 2014

ROBB, PEGGY HIGHT Peggy Hight Robb, beloved wife of John D. Robb and mother, grandmother, great grandmother and talented artist died on May 8, 2014. Peggy was the devoted mother of John D. Robb, III, Celeste Robb-Nicholson, Ellen Bea Robb, Bradford Hight Robb, George Geoffrey Robb and David McGregor Robb. She dies leaving her loving husband of 68 years, and her children, as well as 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A native New Mexican, Peggy (Margaret Celeste Hight) was born in Gallup, NM, September 14, 1924. While first a wife and mother, she had a passion for painting and was known for her attention to form, color and light. The New Mexico landscape was the backdrop for her prolific career as an artist. Peggy earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of NM. Over her extraordinary career, painting in oil and acrylics, she showed her work in 18 national and international juried art exhibitions, including Paris and China. She also taught a course in drawing and painting at UNM for 21 years. When asked about her painting, she said: "I was born in a small town in New Mexico. This country of big sky, rugged mountains and broad panorama has strongly shaped my artwork. Each work is an adventure, an experience in medium, form and color. It is a celebration in response to my love of God's creation. These works are intended to evoke a joy and spiritual uplift in the viewer." Peggy found the world a beautiful place, and was devoted to nurturing that beauty through gardening and landscaping her home, treating each planting, (especially her father's roses) with tenderness, respect and joyful appreciation of its beauty. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 17 at 10:00 am at Heights Cumberland Church, 8600 Academy NE, Albuquerque, NM.
