Peggy Freeman

d. March 27, 2020

Peggy Rogers Freeman, November 15, 1930 - March 27, 2020, has ascended to her final resting place in heaven, to share her afterlife with spiritual family.

Mrs. Freeman is a native New Mexican, born in Clovis to parents, Bertrand and Bernice Rogers, along with twin sister, Jean Hayes.  Peggy and Jean were gifted musicians sharing life-long dedication to the performing arts, both personally and professionally.

In 1954, Peggy wedded Belvin Freeman, another NM native from nearby Texico.  Belvin was a career US Army officer, rising to the rank of Colonel. Together they saw the world, along with two sons, Belvin II and Michael.  As Belvin accepted increasing responsibility, Peggy also assumed the role of senior military wife, leading the other wives under Belvin's commands. They both embraced the experiences of representing our country to the world, as well as performing as citizens of the community. In 1978, following 30 years of service, they retired to their home state, settling in Albuquerque. Throughout Peggy's life, she continued to engage in her lifelong devotion to music, becoming a frequent church organist known to many Albuquerque residents, and also lending for accompanying and music teaching talents to the schools and many students. In 2003, Belvin pre-deceased Peggy and is interred in the Santa Fe Veterans Cemetery, where Peggy will rejoin him.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents; older brother, Allen Rogers; brother-in-law, Frederick Hayes; and sister-in-law, Helen Rogers.  She is survived by beloved sister, Jean Hayes Albuquerque resident, neighbor, and constant companion; sons, Belvin from Asheville, NC and Michael and wife Karen from Gillette, NJ; as well as numerous family relatives, many of whom live here in Albuquerque.

The family wishes to express enormous gratitude to the incredible staff of La Vida Llena retirement community, who lovingly administered to Peggy's senior needs with such dedication and for so long, and to the exceedingly professional support provided by Hospice and French's over her last year. Our family thanks all of you attending Mom's remembrance for the love and kindness you were able to share with her. Love to you all ! The Freeman Family In loving remembrance of Peggy Freeman
