Mary Elizabeth Valdez

Mary Elizabeth Valdez passed away into the Lord's loving hands in the presence of her family on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the age of 82. Mary leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, Orlando; four children, Ruby Oertle, Theresa Valdez and her life partner, Sandra Myron, Irene LaFollette and husband, Kevin, and Orlando Valdez, Jr.; granddaughter, Brittany Hollander and husband, Staff Sergeant Kevin; great-granddaughter, Sophia Elizabeth Hollander; sister, Dorothy Gonzales; brothers, Leonard Newman, and Richard Newman and wife, Carmen; aunt, Carmen Tomassi; and numerous other relatives and friends. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and David Newman; and brothers, Joe, David Jr.(Dabby), and Manual Newman. She was born in Raton, NM in 1934 and married the love of her life, Orlando, in 1954. They moved to California where they lived for 12 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1969, Liz worked for Albertsons and retired after 20 years. She loved bowling, traveling extensively, camping, dancing, and going to the casino once a week with her brother, Leonard. Liz had a contagious personality and smile and would light up a room when she entered. She never met a stranger that she didn't like and everyone loved her. Liz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Liz's name to the charity of your choice.
