On Tuesday morning, January 10, 2023, Madeleine V. George passed away at the age of 87.
Madeleine was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Chanel and Lillian in 1935. They moved to Albuquerque, NM., in 1953. In 1954, she met the love of her life, Teddy George, and they married in 1955. Madeleine was a proud Navy wife and lived in several places where the Navy sent Ted before they settled in the South Valley of Albuquerque, where they lived for over 40 years and raised their four children. Madeleine enjoyed attending church and believed in the power of prayer. She loved her Lord Jesus, even through the grips of Alzheimer’s Dementia, and often prayed with and for those who provided care for her. Madeleine also enjoyed crafts, singing hymns and playing the organ, dancing, and home decorating. Madeleine was bilingual and spoke French and English, frequently greeting others in French, to the chagrin of her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Teddy; daughter, Theresa and husband Lonnie; sons, Aaron and Myron; daughter, Ava and husband Joe; her cousin Rita and husband John; grandchildren, Leah, Joshua, Seth, Curtis, Justin, Tristan, and Dylan; great-grandchildren Penelope, Weston, Joy, Tommy, and most recently, Madelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chanel and Lillian; and her brother, Daniel.
Internment at Santa Fe National Cemetery will be scheduled at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, donations can be made in Madeleine’s name to The Rock ABQ (formerly Noonday Ministries; http://therockabq.com ) where she used to volunteer.
