Luis Saiz

July 15, 1928 — January 12, 2020

Luis Saiz, 91, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2020 to enter the golden gates of Heaven and join all those he lost and loved, including his beautiful daughter, Gloria.  He was surrounded by his loving wife of 72 years and family.

Luis was born on Sunday,July 15, 1928 in San Acacia, NM to Pilar and Brijida (Apodaca) Saiz. As a young man, he moved to Albuquerque to seek out employment and met the love of his life, Ramona Serda-Saiz. They got married in 1947 and raised eight children. He worked very hard to ensure his wife and family had been taken care of and had everything they needed. His focus was family unity and love and taught his children to work hard and succeed in their own way. He was self-employed as a trucker and owned Saiz Trucking, which he renamed to Saiz, Sand and Gravel. He took much pride in what he did and built up for himself and his family. He operated his business for many years before he retired to spend time with his wife and family.

Luis loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved going on road trips with his family and staying at various camp grounds and lakes.  He often told stories to his children while on these trips and loved putting a smile on their faces or giving them a laugh or two. He was often silly and had a funny sense of humor. He loved mariachi music, dancing, and special celebrations with friends and family. He loved to draw and took special pride in making tin men for each of his kids. Moreover, he was a jack of all trades – did carpentry, plumbing, welding, auto repair and anything else that needed repairs or replacement around the house. He cherished and looked forward to family parties and holidays. He and Ramona occasionally ventured out on bus trips to Laughlin, NV with several family members, which they always had fun doing.

Luis is survived by his loving wife Ramona Serda-Saiz, Charles Atencio, husband of Gloria Atencio (deceased),  Louis Saiz and wife Theresa, Yolanda Saiz,  Christine  Saiz, Victoria Cruz and husband Corey,  Marty Saiz and wife Yvonne, Rebecca Cox,  Bridget Serna and husband Raymond, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren and his loving sister Novie Sanchez. He was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Gloria Atencio, loving grandson Jonathan Saiz, parents Pilar Saiz and Brijida, Brother Victor Saiz, and Sisters Mary Sanchez, Tomasita Saiz, Marcella Florez and Merlinda Martinez.
