It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Leora Riggan, who died on November 25, 2021, Thanksgiving, at the age of 86. She was very grateful for her wonderful life. Leora was born and grew up in Idaho where she met Bill Riggan at a college dance. They were soon married and came to Albuquerque in 1955 where Bill had found his dream job at Sandia National Laboratories. Leora soon joined him at the labs where she worked for three years. Together they designed and built a custom home and filled it with family.
Leora was very strong and independent and taught her daughters to be the same. She raised poodles and created a successful business breeding and selling canaries. She loved gardening, hiking, and just spending time outside; she was always ready for another adventure.
Leora was kind and supportive, always taking time to listen. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She loved traveling, and dining but her passion was shopping. She loved to find "treasures" at flea markets, garage sales and thrift stores. She defined "treasures" as any quality item found at a bargain price and she filled her home with these treasures! She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three daughters Karen Anderson and husband Kevin; Kim Morgan and husband Stanley Hutchinson; Susan Boyd and husband Curt; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her sister Verla Cooper and brother Melvin Schultz. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William "Bill" Riggan, siblings Elroy Jr, Raymond, and La Vern Schultz; and her parents.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
