Lee Roy, age 69, was called to his eternal resting place on December 28, 2018, an Albuquerque Native, and part of West Mesa High School’s first graduating class in 1968. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served two years in Vietnam. Lee then returned home from the war only to have suffered from injuries throughout his life, nevertheless, he showed determination and never gave up on living each day to the fullest. No matter what life threw his way, he never lost his loving and caring goodness, he rose above tremendous hardships with a great sense of humor. Lee was preceded in death by his father, Lee R. Montoya Sr. and his mother, Eva Sanchez Montoya; his siblings; Mrs. Yvonne Bonzie Hakin (Dennis) of Gardner, Kansas, Mrs. Eva Jean Olson (Steve), Mrs. Sandra Baird (Eddie), and Mr. Deian McBryde, Esq. of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is also survived by his nieces; Julie Garcia, Christy Curtis (John), Sara Baecher, Holly Rodriguez (Nathaniel), nephews; Matthew Hakin (Anika), Kyle Hakin (Erika), Ryan Hakin, Easton Garcia (Kimberly) and Aaron Garcia, as well as 21 great-nephews and great-nieces. The family invites you to a celebration of Lee's life on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 6:00 p. m. to 7:30 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside Chapel. Final resting place will be Friday, January 4, 2019, at 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family will depart from FRENCH - Westside at 8:00 a.m.
