Kent Anthony (Pelletier) Skaggs

July 31, 1942 — August 30, 2022

Kent Anthony Skaggs was born July 31, 1942, in Morgantown, WV. He grew up in Albuquerque then attended high school at St. Joseph's Military Academy in Hayes, KS. He graduated in 1960 and returned to Albuquerque.

By the time he was in his 20s, he was running his own business called Skaggs Autodraulics. He later sold his company and went to work for Alcoa and eventually Tom Growney Equipment, where he worked for 30 years as Service Manager, then Sales Manager, and finally Vice President of Product Support. It was said if Kent couldn't fix it nobody could. He was also the company pilot and was certified to fly commercially.

He retired from TGE in 2007 and started another company called Americorp. He had invented a ride control system that could be retrofitted to construction equipment to level out the bumpy ride. He manufactured and sold these kits to John Deere, Bobcat, Caterpillar, and other individual machine owners.

Kent loved flying, motorcycle riding, helping his son and grandson with their sprint car racing, fly fishing, and driving his Corvette "BKTLIST," and he was building a '32 Ford from a kit. Kent and Carol enjoyed traveling and visited Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and many places in the US. They toured Arches, Canyonlands, Aspen, and Yellowstone on their purple motorcycle. Good times! Kent finally sold his building, and they retired to the East Mountains, where he discovered his love for plants and wildlife in the area. Their little dog, Bailey, helped Kent with planting and going to get the mail. Bailey also got to go to all the car shows.

Kent A. Skaggs passed away at home on August 30, 2022, at the age of 80.
