Kenneth Alan Yamamoto

Kenneth Alan Yamamoto, MD, or “Dr. Y”, was a physician of internal medicine for 32 years at First Choice Community Health Center in Los Lunas, NM. Dr. Y was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 14, 1956. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Thomas Jefferson Medical in Philadelphia before he moved to Los Lunas in 1983.
He was known for his professional wisdom, passion for life, love for travel, gardening, and his quiet demeanor. Ken was a wonderful soulmate and husband, a devoted son, brother, and father. He was greatly respected in his community by both patients and peers.
Dr. Y passed away at home at the age of 62 from cancer on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 with his wife, and their children by his side. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; mother, Ann; brother, Wayne (spouse June, sons, Benjamin and Joshua); five children, Brian (spouse, Lisa), Emma (spouse, Raul Ortega), Allen, Ann, Andrew; and grandsons, Daeus (spouse A’ja) and Mateo.
Funeral services for Dr. Y will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 160 James Street in Los Lunas, NM 87031.
