LA REINA
Josefina Ortiz Magana (Tita) 86 of Las Cruces, NM, passed away suddenly in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 13, 2018.
She was born on February 13, 1932, to Jenaro and Patrocinio Ortiz in Zacatecas, Mexico. At a young age, she developed a love of horses and rode them frequently. She married Alfredo Magana on April 29, 1950. She went on to become a mother to 9 nine wonderful children. She was an amazing knitter creating many beloved blankets, scarves, dresses and hats for her entire family! She loved spending time in her garden among her many plants and Palomitas (whom she made sure to feed generously all the time!) She had a remarkable green thumb and brought to life any plant or flower she touched. Spending precious time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her enormous happiness. She had a way of emitting love to all who surrounded her.
She is survived by her children, Irma Stotts (Steven Stotts) of Grants, NM; Alfredo Magana Jr. (Nancy Magana) of Buffalo, TX; Estella Sandoval (Andy Sandoval) of Albuquerque, NM; Concha Magana of Albuquerque, NM; Maria Magana of Grants, NM; Veronica Magana of Las Cruces, NM; Gerardo Magana of Buffalo, TX; Genaro Magana (Stephanie Chachere) of Vail, CO; and Patricia Thornton (Chad Thornton) of Farmington, NM. She was lovingly known as “Tita” to her 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
