Jesus B. Sosa, 88, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away September 1, 2016, from natural causes. Jesus was widowed by his wife of 50 years, Helen F. Sosa, in 2006.
Jesus graduated from the University of New Mexico with his PhD in Philosophy of Police Science, and retired from his position as Chief of Police of Santa Fe in 1984. He held a long 27 year, successful career with the State Police, where he assisted in starting the New Mexico Narcotic Division for the New Mexico State Police.
Jesus is survived by his three children and their families, who also reside in Albuquerque: son, Anthony R. Sosa, his wife Denise, and their three children, Justin, Jessica, and Sabrina; son, Michael T. Sosa and his three daughters, Alicia, Davina, Ashleh and her son King Kayden; daughter, Ann M. Sosa-Cardenas, her husband Lorenzo, and their three children, Adriana, Julio, and Alejandro.
Services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, located on Candelaria and Moon NE. Jesus will be honored by the New Mexico State Police Honor Guard at the services. A luncheon will follow at the church.
On Saturday, September 24, 2016, a second mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, NM at 10:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon and the burial. Jesus' final resting place will be with his wife, Helen F. Sosa.
