Jeanette J. Stuart (née Braun), age 84, beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on September 1, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. She entered this world on September 23, 1931 in Rochester, NY born to Edward and Constance Braun. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Norbert Stuart; sons James (Jennifer), Christopher (Valerie), Edward (Carl), and Raymond; granddaughter Jennifer (Chris) Hyde-Stuart; and her beloved pets Mackie, Kida, Fluffy and her garden turtle community.
Jeanette was a communicant to Our Lady of Fatima. Her lifelong passion, aside from her family, was literature and her family often said she read more books in a year than most read in a lifetime. Always a strong promoter of education, she attended college later in life, earning a BA degree in English Literature from UNM in 1985, in the same graduation class as one of her sons.
Jeanette had enormous respect for all living beings and became a vegetarian early in her life. She never found a stray pet that she didn't want to adopt. She was a talented cook who enjoyed planning and preparing varied and delicious Sunday meals for her family, and she loved to use items from her garden in her cooking. She was fascinated by all things old or rustic, from ancient Greek sculptures to American antiques. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Jeanette's life will be held at a later date. She will be returned to rest with her parents at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanette's name to Animal Humane (New Mexico) or Lollypop Farm (Rochester).
