Our father, Jay Anderson, born September 23,1930, has gone to Heaven on, Sunday, October 27, 2019 after battling prostate cancer.
Jay Anderson was born in Beaver Falls, PA, to Josephine Zirat and Don Anderson. Jay’s family moved to Carlsbad, NM after his high school years. He attended Eastern New Mexico University where he met Grace Melendez (Jaramillo). They were married in 1950 and had four children, Linda Anderson, Suzan Wood, Karen Anderson, and Stephan Anderson. In 1956, the family moved to Albuquerque and Jay got his chemistry degree at the University of New Mexico.
Jay is also survived by his sisters, Dona McBee, Fay Mayfield; and brother, Fritz Anderson, and their families.
Jay Anderson worked at Sandia Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM for over 30 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Carlsbad, NM. He resided there and enjoyed being involved at The First Baptist Church. He gave of his time volunteering at the soup kitchen, gun-safety courses, and was compassionate towards others wherever he went.
Our father will be sorely missed by family and friends everywhere. He was full of great humor, strong faith, and an example of wonderful kindness and friendliness.
