Jane Bentley passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, best friend, and racquetball partner, Jerry Bentley, who died in December of 2014.
Jane and Jerry’s family was a blended one, his two kids Laurie and Ricky were in their early 20s, Jane’s kids, Jeremy and Jessica were in their early teens when Jane and Jerry got married in 1989, beginning the messy, loving dance of blending their families and households. There were times when it was challenging and times when the love shone through; like the pride Jerry felt when Jeremy and Jessica graduated from high school, Basic Training for the military services, and college, matched Jane’s. And as all four of their families grew, Jerry was known as Grandad by all his grandkids, biological or not. Jane loved the Bentley grandkids and great grandkids as if they were her own. Christian, Malach, Moriah, Arianna (Mom to Hendrix), Michelle (Mom to Jaimie), Judith (Mom to Jon, and Beth) and Anthony loved Jane and the adventures she and Grandad took them on. Family is messy, we all know that, but Jeremy and Jessica want theirs to be remembered as big, loud, and loving.
Jane is also survived by countless friends and community members, from her 30 years of service in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, N.M. Senior Olympics, endless racquetball play, competition, and instruction, and her cheerful smile never failed to make her new friends. Jane is also survived by her children, Jeremy, his wife Petra and their children, Amy, Brian, and David. Jessica, her husband Brian, their children, Gavin, Julia, Corbin, and Hayden who live in Colorado. Jane will be deeply missed by her family and community.
Jane’s Memorial Service will be Tuesday, October 23, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd NE Albuquerque. Jane will then will be enniched with her beloved at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, or St. Baldrick’s.
