James J. Rael

James J. Rael, 86, beloved brother and uncle, was called to his eternal resting place on July 30, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felicito and Catalina Rael; his brothers, Inez, Bernabe, Candido, Margarito, Pedro Antonio, and Juan Erminio; and his sister, Senaida. He is survived by his sister, Agueda Candelaria; niece, Dolores Amaya; and many family members and friends who will miss his positive attitude and kindness.
He was a life-long member of San Ignacio Catholic Church, where he served as their choir director for 45 years. He was a rezador, who recited Rosaries for the deceased and helped in the East Mountain communities with Rosaries, Funerals and their annual Fiestas. He worked for the Albuquerque Publishing Company for 43 years until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and went on to serve 30 more years with the army reserves as a Master Staff Sergeant.
A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University with visitation to begin at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at San Ignacio Catholic Church, 1300 Walter St. NE, with entombment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
