Irene Montano Sandoval, beloved sister, aunt, mother and grandmother, passed away June 3, 2016. Irene was born on June 11, 1952 in Albuquerque to Canuto and Gregorita (Lola) Lovato Montano.
A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Irene attended Albuquerque High School and worked for APS, Amity and Intel. Irene was an animal lover and was devoted to her family. She always found a way to make people feel loved, to help them and to make them laugh and smile. Despite many hardships throughout her life, her faith was incredibly strong and inspiring.
Irene is survived by her sisters, Cathy Romero and Christine Montano; brothers Tomas and Peter Montano; sons Gary and Daniel (wife Kristen); her daughter, Carrie Ann and two grandsons, Gabriel and Roman Sandoval. Many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins were also part of her loving family. With grateful hearts, her sons and sisters would like to thank Jose Cruz Solano for being a special, loving friend to Irene for 16 years.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside. A Mass will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8321 Camino San Martin SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121.
