Imaleta Hunt-
On Saturday, August27, 2022 Imaleta Jackson Hunt passed away at the age of 90.
Imaleta was born Wednesday, January 20, 1932 near Ada, Oklahoma to George Buel Jackson and Daisy Backus Jackson.
Imaleta was a full-time homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family, her church, and the state of Oklahoma. Some of her happiest memories were of growing up on the farm near Ada. She graduated from Vanoss High School in 1949 and in September of that year she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Hunt. They were married for 56 years and had three children.
As a young wife and mother she moved with her husband and infant son, Curtis, to Kullihoma in the Chickasaw Nation, where Bill taught at a one room schoolhouse and Imaleta cooked lunches for the students. They lived and worked there for three years making lifelong memories and adding another baby, Debbie, to their family. In 1954 they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where their daughter, Marissa, was born.
In 1964 Imaleta and her family left Oklahoma and moved to the Southwest, first living in El Paso, Texas and in 1966 moving to Albuquerque. Imaleta continued being a homemaker and also worked part-time at JC Penney. She was an active member in her church and served in many different capacities. She seldom forgot an occasion to send a card or flowers to someone in need or a greeting for a birthday or special milestone. After her husband retired they spent time traveling, camping and fishing together and with friends.
Imaleta liked arts and crafts, crocheting, TV game shows and was an avid reader. She liked to watch the news and keep up with current events. Her memory for historic details and dates lasted most of her lifetime.
Imaleta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; her brother, Larry Jackson and her sister, Billie Joyce Gerbie. She is survived by her children; Curtis Hunt (Linda Rodgers) of Albuquerque, Debbie Sharp (Loren) of Paso Robles, California; Marissa Van Biber (Joe) of Blue Springs, Missouri; her grandchildren, Ryan Sharp (Lisa) of California; Craig Sharp (Mike Modula) of Australia; Joseph Van Biber (Kayleigh) of North Carolina; Casey Van Biber (Angela) of Missouri; Laura Ballantyne (William) of Missouri; and 7 great grandchildren, Fiona, Weston and Avery Sharp, Charlotte and Amelie Van Biber, June and Benjamin Ballantyne.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Community of Christ church, 4701 Juan Tabo Blvd, on Wednesday,September 7, 2022 at 3:30pm.
