Henrietta Berger

d. September 13, 2016

Henrietta Berger, daughter of a legal Italian Immigrant family, passed away on September 13, 2016.

Only five foot, one inch tall, she was strong mentally, physically and spiritually throughout her life, and a generous and loving mother, grandmother and friend to all she held dear.

"Nonnie," as she was known by her grandchildren, loved to spend time with them, both at her home and attending all their activities, no matter when or where they were. She probably attended thousands of basketball, football, soccer and volleyball games both for her sons and grandkids. Nonnie also loved card games: bridge groups and poker with the boys! Additionally, Henrietta loved to spend time at the cabin she and her husband Charlie built in the Jemez mountains.

Henrietta was a former member of the Casa Angelica Auxiliary and the Italian Women's Club.

It's hard to say goodbye, but we knew in her last days that it was time to let her go. Mom told us in the last few months that she had a great life and wouldn't have changed one thing-good or bad. She mentioned many times her wonderful childhood, her marriage to her beloved husband Charlie, her three sons, of whom she was so proud, of the special women each one of them married, and of course her seven awesome grandchildren. Henrietta talked frequently of how many close friends she was fortunate to have, especially her cousin, Jeanette Monahan. If our Mom isn't in heaven now, the rest of us are in serious trouble!

"Ketta," as her friends knew her, was preceded in death by her parents, Guido, Sr. and Fannie Del Frate; her brothers, Angelo and Guido, Jr.; and her husband, Charlie Berger.

Mom is survived by her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Green, Virginia Del Frate, and Helen Del Frate; sons, Guy Berger and his wife, Daniela, Eric Berger and his wife, Jalene, Greg Berger and his wife, Colleen; and her seven Berger grandchildren, Diana, Peter and his wife, Danielle, Kylee, Charlie, Lindsey and Westin.
