Helen Marie Cornwell Rose, a longtime resident of Odessa, Texas, took her final breath on Friday, August 27, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was 78 years old and died due to complications from COVID-19.
Helen was preceded in death by her true love and husband, Berton Forba Rose; her mother, Lucille Jean Harber; and her eldest brother, Wayne Elmer Cornwell. Helen is survived by her siblings, Jerry Cornwell, William Cornwell, and their spouses. She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Patricia Marie Carpenter (spouse, Tony) and Lisa Ann Francis (spouse, Jerry); 10 grandchildren; Julie, Timothy James, Laurie, Joshua, Daniel, Tracie, Satessa, Jamie, Lyndsie, and Maggie. She was blessed to have 15 great-grandchildren; and was honored to love and be loved by countless nephews, nieces, cousins, and other extended family members.
Helen was an amazing seamstress who proudly worked for several years at Cloth World. She was usually busy sewing clothes, blankets, wedding garments or unique items for her loved ones. She could alter, repair, or create out of thin air just about anything. She had a special love for all things red roses, even before it was her last name, she loved country music (especially Charlie Pride and the Statler Brothers). Helen collected so many photographs of loved ones that her walls surrounding her, when she sat in her front room, were covered with collage frames. She had added shelves up near the ceiling for displaying and seeing her family all around her. She also had given sweet, fun nicknames for all her grandchildren, and many adult loved ones.
