Frankie Macey Soto Lopez

Frankie Macey Soto Lopez, age 23, was born in Gallup, New Mexico and was raised in San Diego, California for the majority of his childhood. Our Precious Coastie passed away on August 31, 2019 in Valdez, Alaska.

Frankie was known for his amazing smile, wonderful advice, contagious laugh, daredevil personality, selfless acts and unconditional love.

Frankie is survived by his parents, Krista Marie Lopez Soto and Robert Anthony Soto II; his grandparents, David and Louise Lopez; his great-grandmother, Priscilla Lopez; his immediate uncle, auntie, and cousins: Juan, Lisa, Brayden and Taylie Trujillo; his brothers and sisters in the Coast Guard; and many other cherished family members.

Frankie was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Anacleto and Margaret Gonzales, and great-grandfather, Joe G. Lopez.

Frankie loved hiking, camping, hunting, stargazing, skateboarding, photography and hanging out at the beach. Overall, he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially with his Momma, Krista and his well-loved German Shepherd, Athena.

Frankie proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. He was sworn into the Coast Guard on March 19, 2017 and attended boot camp in Cape May, New Jersey; graduating proudly with his Company “Hotel-194”. On May 30, 2017, his first duty station was on board the USCGC SHERMAN based in Honolulu Hawaii. He achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class upon completion of Boatswain’s Mate “A” school in Yorktown, Virginia on June 28, 2019. Frankie served as the BM3 on board USCGC CHANDELEUR based in Valdez, Alaska.

Please join us in celebrating Frankie’s life on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 415 East Green Ave., Gallup, NM 87301. A reception will immediately follow at the Community Service Center, 410 Bataan Veterans Ct.
