Frances "Missy" C. (Cullinan) Rosson

d. February 7, 2018

Frances “Missy” Cullinan Rosson, age 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 peacefully in her home. She is survived by her children, Tom and his wife Tammy of Baltimore MD, and Eileen and her husband Kristen Webb of Albuquerque, NM. She was also blessed and had great love for her grandchildren, Matt and Shanna Rosson, and Ariana Webb.

Missy grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from St Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg, MD with a Foreign Language degree.  She received her Master’s Degree in French from Middlebury College in 1967.  She taught French for a few years with Fairfax County public schools in Virginia, when she met her dear husband, David E. Rosson, Jr.  They moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1970 where she cared for their two children, Tom and Eileen and taught with the Oak Ridge public schools.  In 1980, the family moved to Albuquerque, NM. Missy taught French and Spanish at Manzano High School through the 90’s.  She was also the foreign language department head at Manzano for many years.

Missy was an avid gardener, an amazing cook, and she loved tennis, dance, water aerobics, musicals and the opera.  She loved to travel and visited Europe many times.  She also traveled to South America and Canada.  For many summers, while their children were growing up, Missy and David took them on long road trips throughout the US.

Missy loved to sing and was a long time member of the John XXIII Catholic Community and sang in their choir.  She was a member and volunteer with Oasis Albuquerque.  She enjoyed many classes and outings with Oasis and was treasurer of their singing group for many years.

Missy loved her grandchildren with all of her heart.  She tutored Matt in Spanish and enjoyed attending his wrestling matches.  She loved sewing and taught her granddaughter, Shanna, to enjoy the craft.  Over the years she created so many beautiful clothes for all of her family.  Ariana loved to find bugs and snails and smell the flowers in Missy’s gardens.

Missy was blessed with many close friends throughout her life.  Our hearts go out to all of you whom Missy has touched over the years.  We thank you for your amazing love and support of her and our family.

A special thanks goes out to High Desert Hospice and HONOR Home Care for their love, care and compassion.

Missy was preceded in death in 2014 by her beloved husband David of 45 years.  Their support and love for each other is something our family will cherish forever.  Rosary will be recited on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 10:15 a.m. at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE.  Mass will be celebrated directly following at 11:00 a.m., with Father Ark Biczak, Celebrant.  There will be a reception after the funeral mass in the parish hall.  Please join us in celebration of Missy’s life.
