Emo Jean Aguilar

Emo Jean Aguilar, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1944, died Thursday, April 27, 2017.

She is survived by her children, Michael J. Aguilar and wife, Sondra, Lewis A. Aguilar and wife, Michelle Lieberman, Georgia Mae Crabtree and husband, Dwight L., Patsy A. Aguilar, Nancy G. Nix and husband, David L., and Donna J. Aguilar; 12 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Geneva Morgan; and numerous other relatives and friends.  Emo Jean was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Aguilar in 2013; son, Allen Dale Aguilar in 1976; sister, Beatrice Graham; and brother, J.B. Nobles.

She was born in 1925 in Hot Springs, AR to J.B. and Mae Nobles.  Emo Jean moved to CA as a young lady and went to work at the Firestone Plant where she helped to make airplane tires for the war effort.  It was there that she met James Aguilar and they were married in 1944. They then moved to Albuquerque where Emo Jean dedicated her life to raising her children. She instilled in them their faith in Jesus Christ, making sure they went to Church, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and many other activities at Sandia Baptist Church. Emo Jean not only talked the talk but walked the walk, teaching by example to honor and glorify her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in all things. She was diligent in reading her Bible and Christian literature. Emo Jean was an intercessory prayer warrior and was the essence of a Godly woman.  She worked for a short time at Albuquerque National Bank and Sun West Bank as a computer programmer and also at a couple of bakeries.  Emo Jean also owned and operated a small business, Figurettes, and sold Avon.  She was a proficient organ and piano player, playing by ear and by note the old Southern Baptist hymns.  Emo Jean loved to crochet and was also a wonderful cook, especially of Southern, Mexican, and New Mexican food. She was also a phenomenal soprano and did daily word puzzles. For over twenty years she was a presiding judge at all primary and general elections. Emo Jean was a loyal wife, loving mother and grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 30, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas.  Private interment will take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery where she will be buried with her beloved husband.
