Emma Dolores (Herrera) Martinez

On Thursday, August 1, 2019, our dear Emma Martinez, “mamacita” went home to be with our dear lord. We have been blessed to be able to celebrate her life – all 92 years! Anyone who ever came in contact with her knows how vibrant, funny and full of life she was. Her stories, anecdotes, jokes and antics kept us laughing and on our toes. Our all-time favorite would have to be her singing at the top of her lungs, like there was no tomorrow. She was a woman of faith and loved her God first and foremost. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren was “ALL FIERCE”.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mel Martinez; son, Philip; and daughter, Shirley. She is survived by her four daughters, Theresa, Sharon (Gilbert), Linda (Jim), and Carmen; son, Michael; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers, Elizandro and Joe; and sister, Priscilla.

The favorite phrase that we all cherish and remember anytime we parted ways was “I love you little, I love you big, I love you like big fat pig”. We love you and will miss you dearly.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019, 9:00 a.m., at FRENCH-Westside. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at The Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association https://act.alz.org.
