Emma M. Lutton

Emma Roman Martinez Lutton, 89, dearest mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away Saturday October 21, 2017 with her daughter by her side.

She was the second child born to Angela Roman Martinez and Jesus M. Martinez in Madrid, New Mexico and raised in historic South Martineztown Albuquerque, New Mexico.  She attended Longfellow Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, Albuquerque High School, and  graduated from a technical business college in Albuquerque.   She moved to Anchorage, Alaska and worked in a civil service accounting/bookkeeping position. She met her future husband Donald Lutton.  The two had one daughter while the family lived in Pennsylvania for a few years before returning to Albuquerque.  Emma may best be remembered for always being there when she was needed by family and friends.

She had a wide variety of interests and hobbies and engaged in her activities with much gusto.  She volunteered as a reader at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, participated in numerous activities including arts, crafts, music and public safety projects at the Senior Citizen Centers and the City of Albuquerque.  She enjoyed reading and gardening.  Her first job as a Harvey Girl in the former Fred Harvey restaurant in downtown Albuquerque brought her great joy.  She retired from the Social Security Administration where she was a Supervisor in the Benefits and Claims Division.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lutton; her parents, Jesus M. and Angela Roman Martinez; four siblings, Jess, James, Roberto, and Shirley Salinas.  She is survived by her daughter, Alice Marie Froncek (Victor); granddaughter, Emily M. Froncek of Corry, Pennsylvania; siblings, Maria Martinez, Sophia McGough (Eugene), Mellie Malcolmson, Angela Romero, Inez Benson (Charles), Rosie Campbell (Louis), Laura Martinez, Margaret Martinez Siemel (Sasha), Antonio Martinez,  Frank Martinez (Linda), Alicia Barber (James); and  numerous nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grandnieces.

Rosary will be recited Monday, October 30, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, October 31, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lomas and Tennessee, Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Interment will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Pallbearers will be Emily Froncek, Daniel Romero, Andrew McGough, Theresa (Tess) Gadbury, Steven Gomez, Mikka Embre.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Sharon Benson and David Romero.
