Eddrina "Nikki" Cooke, age 71, beloved sister and friend of many, was called to her eternal resting place on April 23, 2016. She entered this world on April 13, 1945 in Chicago, IL, born to Edward and Bernice Nixon. She was an adventurous soul who loved socializing. Nikki was an avid reader, a dedicated Bible Study member, sports enthusiast and animal lover. She played golf, basketball, softball and volleyball both in the Senior Olympics, soccer, and was a member of first women's soccer team from New Mexico to play in the Regional championships. She also shared her talents as she later coached women's soccer. Everyone knew Nikki as such a loved friend. She filled the role of a surrogate mother, grandmother, and auntie to all her friends' and family's children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bernice Nixon; and brother, Richard Hill.
She is survived by her sister Albertine Peete; brother, Albert Hill; sister Cozzetta Uwejeyan; nieces; nephews; cousins; and extended family and many friends both in Chicago and Albuquerque. She is also survived by her pet, Ashi.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel NE. A Memorial Reception will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, 5:30 p.m., also at Prince of Peace.
