Dorothy Cornelius "Dottie" Crist
June 2, 1924 — August 25, 2016
It is with great sadness to share that Dorothy Cornelius Crist, better known as "Dottie" or "Mema", 92, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Dottie was born on June 2, 1924, in Canadian, TX. She graduated from Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico. As a member of the Albuquerque Country Club, Dottie loved golf. If she wasn't playing the sport, she was definitely watching it on TV. Dottie had a passion for traveling, loved mystery novels, and became a stock market guru. Her endeavors included various charitable contributions to Presbyterian Hospital and University of New Mexico.
She is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Oney and husband, Michael Oney of Hobbs, NM; her nephews, Trey Cornelius and Tim Cornelius; four grandchildren, Justin, Cristin, Meredith, and Michael Jordan Oney; and four great-grandchildren, Jade, Santiago, Sofia, and Arquett. We are forever grateful for her faithful caregiver, Barbara Martinez. Dottie will be joining her late husband, Earl William Crist, Jr. "Irish"; their son, William Harvey Crist and Barton Darrow in heaven. She was a treasure to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service in thanksgiving for the life of Dorothy Cornelius Crist will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Presbyterian Health Care Foundation, C/O Chaplaincy Fund, PO Box 2666, Albuquerque, NM 87125.
