Doris May Robinson Allen was born on June 11, 1923 to Walter and Isabella Foster. Doris was one of ten daughters. She was born and raised in the small town of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Doris was well-loved in Jamaica and was known for her strong faith in God. She was lovingly referred to as “Aunt Dorr” by her nieces, nephews and family friends. Doris married Ernest Robinson in 1941. The two had five children together. Doris’s love was her church and her children. At an early age, Doris became a widow and a single parent. She worked hard to support her family and wanted the best for her children. She decided to immigrate to the United States for better opportunities and education. Doris came to the United States in 1966. She helped pave the way for her children and their children to immigrate from Jamaica to America. Doris married Enos Allen and the two were married for 42 years until his death on March 23, 2012. They purchased a home in Masten Lake, New York. Doris became a respiratory technician at Harris Hill Hospital in Monticello, New York. Doris was an active and faithful member of the Greater Upper Room Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Middletown, New York. She served under Rev. Leon Williams (now deceased) for over thirty years. Due to declining health, Doris relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2010 to live with her youngest son, Newton. Despite her failing body, her inner strength was seen by all. She enjoyed listening to the choir at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and was at peace whenever she entered the house of God. On January 8, 2020, at the age of 96, Doris passed away peacefully in her sleep. She will be missed greatly by all her family and friends. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Isabella Foster; her husbands, Ernest Robinson and Enos Allen; her son, Keith Robinson; her sisters, Gladise Foster, Lucille Foster, Lillian Salmon, Mavis Allen, Nora Brown, and Millicent Lobban.
