Dena George passed away on April 20, 2022, at the age of 76, from this life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dena will be remembered for her smile and infectious enthusiasm for life. Her smile spread from her to us as she shared her joy of life, her love and happiness through her friends, and her passion for giving to others. Everyone who had the good fortune to have Dena in their lives will carry the enrichment of her smile and zest for life with them throughout their lives.
She studied business administration at Long Beach State University College. Bank of America recruited her for an internship to groom her for management. She moved up in the ranks but found more challenge in sales and started real estate. Then moving on to her rewarding career, Dena made the decision to become Employee Benefits Supervisor Manager. Dena found helping companies and corporations with Employee Benefits was her life journey. She was employed for 32 years at earning several county and country sales awards. One year she earned top saleswoman from Blue Cross, which was a proud moment for her and the agency.
Dena was very active in Soroptimist International, a volunteer organization that works for peace and improving the lives of women and girls. After serving as Soroptimist president for two years, Dena and her husband decided it was time to move to their dream retirement in Placitas, New Mexico 20 years ago. Upon moving, Soroptimist presented Dena with a Silver Dollar Award for her services, which continued in Placitas. At her retirement from Soroptimist, she was awarded a gold and diamond pendant for her outstanding kindness and service.
After moving to Placitas, Dena also started her service activity with Jardinieres de Placitas. She was a member for 18 years and was involved in Community Service. She received the Outstanding Service Award which was an extraordinary honor. Her main involvement and interest were with the Haven House, a domestic violence shelter.
Although she received a serious diagnosis of Systemic Lupus, her courage and strength never hampered her spirits. A friend described Dena as a person who lived with much dignity, grace, and kindness. Her love of giving is in everything she did.
Dena shared loving, caring and joyful marriage of 44 years to her husband Ron George, as well as loving and caring relationships with her other family members – brother Timothy Kelly, sister-in-law Nadine Kelly, sons Paul and David George, daughter-in-law Myra, granddaughter Alexandria George, grandsons Erik and Nicholas George, bother-in-law Raymond George, sister-in-law Lene George, niece Vivian George, nephew Lennard George and spouse Melissa.
