Deanna Jones passed away peacefully June 21, 2018 in Rio Rancho, NM after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born in Rochester, NH on July 4, 1938, and during her early years believed that the 4th of July revelry was her special celebration. She was a devoted, loving wife and best friend to Paul, proud husband, of 57 years. She was “mom” to her special daughter, Theresa Michelle Jones-Henry; and son, Mark Dennis Jones; “gramma” to cherished grandsons, Mathew David Jones and Garret Michael Jarmer; and “great gramma” to three shining stars, Aleyna, Natalie and Zoe. Deanna stood proudly beside her husband, Paul through a Navy career that spanned over 20 years. She studied Japanese flower arranging while they were stationed in Japan and earned a Professorship of the 3rd Degree from the Sogetsu School in Tokyo. She was also the first American to be invited to participate in the school’s annual flower show at the Silk Hotel in Yokohama, Japan. Deanna was also an avid quilter and she designed and made the grand-prize raffle quilt one year for the Thimble-weeds Quilt Club in Rio Rancho. Deanna was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Pennel-Tarrant who also died of complications from Dementia.
