Dean Mummey

Dean Mummey, 86 of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Dean was born in McConnelsville, OH to Cecil and Wilma Mummey. Dean moved to Albuquerque when he was stationed at Sandia Base to serve in the Army in the 1950s. He married Eloisa Martinez in 1957 at Central Methodist Church in Albuquerque and lived in Columbus and Cincinnati, OH. They returned to Albuquerque in 1966, but moved to Tucumcari, NM in 1979 when Consolidated Freightways relocated. Dean and Eloisa made many friends from their time in Tucumcari and Albuquerque. Dean loved the warm climate of NM and enjoyed many days boating at Conchas, Ute and Elephant Butte lakes. When Dean retired in 1997, they moved back to Albuquerque.

Dean was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and was also on the Mission committee for many years. He enjoyed greeting members and visitors at the church and always remembered your name.

Dean was a Master Mason of Mesa Lodge #68, Adah Chapter #5 Order of Eastern Star, and Ballut Abyad Shrine. He was a member of the Azayim (banquet) committee and so enjoyed serving the members on Wednesday night dinners and many banquets.

He is survived by his wife, Eloisa; son, Richard (Christy Porter); daughter, Tracey (Robbye Laney); sisters, Charlotte McGrath(Eddie) and Doris Mummey; sister-in-law, Louisa Rivas; and numerous nieces, and nephews. He was very close to his nephew Dr. James Martinez, wife, Margaret and their children, Estevan, Felicia and Roberto.
