David A. Whiting

David A. Whiting, age 71, was called Home on Monday, October 31, 2016. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, David graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1963. Married Joan Baca on October 2, 1965. In 1967 he started Whiting Cleaners which is still family owned and operated to this day. Through his business his customers became friends that he enjoyed so much. His passion in life was his family. He was a respected coach and board member at Mile High Little League for many years. David loved listening to his country and Spanish music, especially Englebert Humperdink singing, dancing, and playing the accordion. Since David had a love for great music, he enjoyed watching his son-in-law play drums for Severo Y Grupo Fuego. David was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Espinosa; father, Celestino Espinosa; mother-in-law, Carmen Baca; sister-in-law, Betty Dimas; and brother-in-laws, Tony Baca, David Blackmon and Anthony Ramirez. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Whiting; six children, David Whiting, and wife, Sandra, Jeff Whiting and wife, Jeannine, Richard Whiting and wife, Cindy, Grace Mares and husband, Tommy, Phillip Whiting and wife, Tracy, and Gregory Whiting and wife, Kelly; 16 grandchildren, Alexandria Whiting, Jessica Sanchez and husband, Joshua, Gabrielle Fjelseth and husband, Jereme, Davey Whiting, Antoinette Whiting, Matthew Whiting and wife, Jen, Richie Whiting and Sydney, Aaron Whiting, Katlyn Whiting, Karly Mares, Joshua Mares, Alycia Whiting, Zakary Whiting, Gracie Whiting, Scarlett Rose Whiting, and Breana Silvis; 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor Olivia Patterson, Hayden Jaymes Patterson, Joshua Sanchez, Jacob Sanchez, and Makayla Sanchez, Aidan Cuffley, Jace Cuffley, Jaxson Cuffley, Emory Whiting, Jaryn Sedillo, Kiley Fjelseth, and Aviana Whiting; four siblings, Louie Espinosa and wife, Marcella, Cisto Espinosa and wife, Mary, Genevieve Cruz and husband, Jerry, and Michael Espinosa; in-laws, Ginger Ramirez and husband, Martin, James Baca and wife, Betty, Donald Baca and wife Jennie, Mary Blackmon, Lilac Baca, Ray Dimas; and many nephews and nieces. Friends may visit one hour prior to the Rosary recited and Mass celebrated on Saturday, November 5, 2016, 10:00 a.m and 10:30 a.m. at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Whiting, Adrian Espinosa, Davey Whiting, Joshua Mares, Matthew Whiting, and Richie Whiting.
