Dale Berglund

May 14, 1933 — May 13, 2017

Dale Berglund, 83, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was called to Heaven on May 13, 2017, one day before his birthday, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 14, 1933, on Mother’s Day, in Ironwood, MI, to Arthur and Ebba Berglund. He was very proud of his Swedish heritage and being from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. After his high school graduation, he moved to Albuquerque where his brother Marlon lived. Dale served in the Army and was stationed in Korea from 1953-1955. When he returned, he went to work at his brother’s business, which Dale later bought from him, and it became Customcraft Fixtures. Dale owned the business for 30 years before retiring. Through his business, he joined the Executives Association of Greater Albuquerque (EAGA). Through EAGA he met and made many lifelong friends. Dale was a huge Lobo fan, and he and Fran had basketball season tickets for over 40 years. Dale and his family enjoyed many years spending time in the beautiful Jemez mountains at their cabin that Dale and his brother built.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Fran Berglund; daughters, Dalynn Berglund, Kathy Berglund and Kristi Berglund; granddaughter, Tori Berglund; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ebba; his brother, Marlon; and sister, Virginia. The family would like to especially thank the incredibly dedicated and loving staff and caregivers at the Woodmark of Uptown and High Desert Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Dale these last three and a half years during his battle with Alzheimer’s.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Woodmark Staff & Caregivers Fund c/o Woodmark @ Uptown, 7201 Prospect Pl. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
