Charlotte Goodwin

d. March 17, 2019

Charlotte Lee Goodwin, loving mother, wife and devout Catholic, Charlotte Goodwin, departed peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on Sunday, March 17, 2019.

Born Tuesday, April 12, 1927, in Dallas, Texas, she graduated valedictorian of her senior class at Ursuline Academy in Dallas, attended University of Texas in Austin, and married James Patrick Goodwin in June of 1946.  In addition to raising nine children, Charlotte spent her life in service to others through her parish and other organizations, including The Legion of Mary, Junior Legion of Mary, Counsel of Catholic Women, Jaycee Wives, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Right to Life and Birthright. She was crowned Reina de Albuquerque for the 250th Celebration in 1956.

Preceded in death by her children, Francis and Mark Goodwin; and granddaughter, Jennifer Hodges. She is survived by her husband, James P. Goodwin; children, Patricia Ellis and husband Russ Ellis, Beth Bailey and husband Steve Bailey, Rose Ann Goodwin and husband Al Faustino, Jim Goodwin and wife Sheila Goodwin, Mary Jury and husband Vic Jury, Mike Goodwin and wife Camilla Goodwin, Charlotte Rode and husband Mike Rode, and KC Maxwell; grandchildren, Sarah Steele, Jessica Harless and Zachary Harless, Melissa Goodwin, Josh Goodwin, and Jeremy Goodwin, Brandon Goodwin and Ryan Golden, Antonia Demetros, Jada Goodwin and Myla Goodwin, Bree Rode, ShaeLyn Harris, Michael Rode, Mark Rode, CC Sobey, Levi Rode and Christian Rode, Stu Lucero; as well as eleven great-grandchildren.  Loved by her husband, children, and the countless others she touched with her generosity and compassion, she was also known to have a quick wit. She believed that humor could heal, and she wasn’t afraid to bring levity to a serious situation. She cherished her family and never ended a call with her children or grandchildren without saying, “I love you and God Bless you.” She will be deeply missed.
