Charles W. O’Donnell, age 86, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 in Schertz, TX. He was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM.

He was born March 26, 1931, in Pittsburg, PA to Lathan and Virginia (Schmidt) O’Donnell, was raised and lived in Butler, PA. He married Shirley May Moore on September 13, 1955 in Cumberland, MD.

He served in the US Navy from 1951 – 1955. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Grove City College in 1961. In 1964 while studying for a Master’s Degree from Duquesne University he moved his family to Albuquerque, NM. He spent his career as a Banker, Investor, Contractor, and Real Estate Broker and Developer.

Charles (Chuck, “DAD”) devoted his life to his wife and family. He adored his grandchildren. He relished his time with them traveling the country and fishing. He also loved being a great-grandfather. Surviving are his son, Charles W. O’Donnell, Jr. and his wife, Shirley Jay of Schertz, TX; his five grandchildren, Charles III (Barbara) of Denver, CO, Gerald (Erin) of Las Cruces, NM, Kevin (Krystle) of Schertz, TX, Justin of Schertz, TX, and Amy of Campbell, CA; his nine great-grandchildren, Caroline, Caitlin, Charles IV, Christopher, Davina, Emily, Sophie, Keagan and Kinsley; sister, Marlene Gilliland (Gary) of Chicora, PA, many cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley May O’Donnell (February 2008); his son, Kevin Douglas O’Donnell (May 1980); and his brothers, Harry and Eugene.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
