Carmen (Cordova) Loconto

Carmen Loconto passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She was the eldest of ten children born to Max and Guadalupe Cordova in Belen, NM. She was married twice, first to Eloy Gutierrez with whom she shared three children. In 1970 she married Jim Loconto with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 9, 2020.

Carmen delighted in her children, Nola Waters (Glenn) Lucinda Compton, and preceded in death by her son, Rudy in October 2020. Her soul and inspiration were her grandchildren, Ben (Keith Leigh Kendall), Brandi Chavez, Vanessa Gutierrez, A.J. Arviso, Margaret Chavez (Larry), Lorna Hathaway (Clint), Eric Gutierrez, and Anthony Gutierrez (Lydia). Along with eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

Carmen was a cosmetologist in the area for 55 years and took great pride in her part of American history as a Harvey Girl in her early years. She loved music and dancing. A founding member of Promise Community Church she served as a greeter and was active in the Silver Sisters ministry of the church. Her love for people and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was endless. The family would like to thank Promise Church for their support, the team of doctors at Presbyterian Hospital, the entire team at Presbyterian Complete Care and Compassus Hospice Services.

Due to Covid restrictions a private service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 with Pastor Todd Patton officiating. Friends may stream the service by clicking on the link below. Private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ben Gutierrez, Anthony Gutierrez, Eric Gutierrez, Robert Chavez, Victor Andrade, and A.J. Arviso. In absence, Honorary Pallbearer Jesus M. Gutierrez, USMC.
