Barbara (Carter) Schobel

Barbara C. Schobel, age 64 passed away November 11th, 2021 after a long battle with diabetes. She was born on Christmas Day 1956 in Fairview Park, Ohio to Roger and Helene Carter. She married her best friend and love of her life William Schobel in November 1979 who preceded her in death in October 1990.

Barbara LOVED people and spent the majority of her life focused on educating, guiding and empowering anyone and everyone she came across.

For many years, she spent time teaching tax preparation and volunteering countless hours coordinating a local tax site for the Internal Revenue Services VITA program which later became a part of Tax Help New Mexico.

Her life was a living example of Proverbs 11:25; "Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed."

Barbara is survived by her sister Kathleen and her three children Brian, Kristine and Aaron.

Barbara's health battle was long and private. As such, there will not be a public ceremony. In lieu of flowers and condolences, please make any donations to the United Way Of Central New Mexico for the Tax Help New Mexico program as that program and ALL of her students and fellow volunteers meant EVERYTHING to her. There isn't anything in the world she would want more than helping that program or the countless many that program benefited.
