Alex A. Maestas

Alex Maestas, age 84, was called to his eternal resting place, while surrounded by his loving family, on November 23, 2018. He was born in La Jara, NM in 1934. Alex was a loving, dedicated, generous husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was known for his passion of church, family and country. Alex took pleasure in spending time with his family, hunting with his sons, fishing, traveling and for the occasional trip to the casino. Alex found many relaxing moments perfecting his yard and garden. He served in the United States Army and attended classes at the University of New Mexico. Additionally, he took great pride in working at Sandia National Laboratories as a computer programmer from 1967 thru his retirement in 1994.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Merencia and Andres; grandson, Michael Hollingsworth; and numerous brothers and sisters. Alex is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, TexAnn; his children, Alexander (Rose) Maestas, Anita (John) Hollingsworth-Cruz, Michele (Pat) Irwin, William (Kali) Maestas, and David (Desne) Maestas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexander Jr., Jessica, Ann Marie, Paul, Christy, Samantha, Niko Rebekah, Bradley, Meagan, Manuel, John, and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Kyra, Adrian, Jacob, Alicia, Angel, Michael, Carlos, Julie, Jordan, Tyler, Natasha, Rory, Robert, Liam, Landon, Hayden, and Eli; and great-great-grandchildren, Jayden, Dominic, Gabriel, Isabella, Anastasia, and Jaclyn. He also leaves behind many family members and friends.

Friends and family may visit Wednesday, November 28, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Wyoming. Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 29, 2018, 10:30 a.m., with Mass being celebrated at 11:00 a.m., both at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
