Lynsey Allene (Gooding) Horcasitas, age 34, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Lynsey is survived by her parents, Steven and Diana Gooding, her brother and sister-in-law, Cole, and Renee Gooding. She is also survived by her grandmother, Helen (Nanny) Gurule, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Lynsey was a proud member of the Albuquerque Academy class of 2004. She earned her bachelor’s degree at UNM on a Presidential Scholarship where she celebrated her Hispanic heritage studying Spanish and Portuguese. She immersed herself in this pursuit by studying abroad in Argentina and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Foreign Language. Lynsey wore many hats in her short life; she was a preschool teacher, a tutor, a wife, a downhill skier, a big game hunter, an outdoorswoman, an entrepreneur, a consultant, an event planner, a wine aficionado, and vintner. She was passionate and poured herself, heart, and soul, into everything she did. She was outgoing, adventurous, and a lover of animals.
She gave time and energy to organizations that she felt strongly about such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. She strove to educate and mentor the youth by volunteering her time with the Hunter Safety Program. She cared for her community through her involvement with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce. Lynsey was a caring, loving, and generous soul and will be greatly missed by all those that she touched.
Given her love for her community and her commitment to education, her family requested the Albuquerque Academy to be the recipient of donations made in her honor. If you wish to donate, please follow the link below and designate "Financial Assistance" from the menu.
