Obituary for Danielle Walling

Danielle was loved and survived by her parents, Tammy and Richard Walling and her service cat, Batman, and her Guinea Pig, Opie, her extended family and many friends. She would light up a room with her smile. She was bright, smart and sassy. She started ice skating lessons at the age of six, a passion that lasted for 7 years. Danielle attended Osuna Elementary, Madison Middle School and Sandia High School, graduating in 2009. She participated in choir for three years and was a drill team member her senior year. After being diagnosed with Wegener's disease at the age of 18, she knew how much of a difference it made to have a good nurse take care of her when she was in the hospital and wanted to give back by being a nurse and helping others. Danielle went on to attend NM State University in Las Cruces for two years and finished her nursing degree on the Dean's list at Carrington College. She worked at UNM Hospital 4-South evening shift were she made great friends and was passionate about her work. Danielle knew the importance of saving lives, and registered to be an organ donor on her driver's license. She wanted to continue helping others even in death; she has given a legacy of life to three individuals through organ donation.
